Þróun upplýsingatækni verður hraðari með hverju árinu sem líður. Íslenskt skólakerfi hefur verið gagnrýnt fyrir að dragast aftur úr í þeirri þróun. Þrátt fyrir gangrýnisraddir þá er mikil gerjun í grunnskólum landsins. Víða um land eru nemendur og kennarar eruí auknum mæli að nýta sér tölvur, netið og fartækni við nám og kennslu. Ljóst er að á vinnumarkaðnum er vaxandi eftirspurn eftir tæknimenntuðu fólki og þeim störfum fjölgar sem hægt er að vinna óháð staðsetningu með aðstoð tækninnar.

 
Hér í Dalvíkurbyggð verið rætt um hvernig hægt er að nýta upplýsingatækni í skólastarfi og nýlega samþykkti byggðaráð að leggja aukna áherslu á notkun upplýsingatækni í skólum sveitarfélagsins. Í framhaldinu af ákvörðuninni voru skjávarpar settir upp í heimastofum allra bekkja Dalvíkurskóla. Þá mun starfsfólk skólans í auknum mæli sækja sér menntun og þjálfun í tæknivæddum kennsluháttum.
 
Víða um land hafa skólar verið að taka spjaldtölvur í notkun og hefur reynslan sýnt jákvæð áhrif á áhuga, ánægju og námsárangur nemenda. Dalvíkurbyggð hefur ákveðið að stefna í þessa átt og verður byrjað á því nú í vetrarbyrjun að nemendur sjöunda bekkjar Dalvíkurskóla og Árskógarskóla fá spjaldtölvur til afnota í skólanum. Jafnframt munu allir leikskólar sveitarfélagsins eignast spjaldtölvur á næstu vikum sem nýttar verða á ýmsan hátt, t.d. í hópastarfi og sérkennslu. Stefnt er á að fleiri spjaldtölvur fylgi í kjölfarið á næstu misserum eftir því sem fjárhagur og þróun skólastarfsins gefa tilefni til. Áhugi starfsmanna er mikill og vonir standa til þess að innan fárra ára muni allir nemendur skólanna geta nýtt sér spjaldtölvutækni við nám og leik.

Uczniowie i nauczyciele w calym kraju coraz czesciej korzystaja z komputerów , Internetu i urzadzen mobilnych do uczenia sie i nauczania . Oczywiste jest, ze rynek pracy ma coraz wieksze zapotrzebowanie na szkolenia techniczne i liczba miejsc pracy moze byc przetwarzana niezaleznie od lokalizacji przy pomocy technologii.
 
Tu, w naszej gminie rosnie dyskusja o potrzebie reagowania na ten trend i niedawno zatwierdzony pomysl aby polozyc wiekszy nacisk na wykorzystanie technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych w szkole . Nastepnie zostal podjety krok w Dalvíkurskóla projektory zostaly umieszczone w biurach wszystkich klas. Nastepnie personel szkoly coraz bardziej poszukuje edukacji i szkolen w zmechanizowanym nauczaniu.
 
W calym kraju , szkoly zostaly sprawdzone jak korzystaja z komputerów i doswiadczenie wykazalo pozytywny wplyw na motywacje , zadowolenie i wyniki w nauce uczniów. Gmina zdecydowala , ze pojdzie w tym kierunku i rozpocznie na poczatku zimy z siódmej klasy uczniów w Dalvíkurskóla i Árskógarskóla korzystac z komputerów i tabletow w szkole. Ponadto, wszelkie miejskie przedszkola maja komputery i tablety w ciagu najblizszych tygodni , które beda wykorzystywane w rózny sposób, np. w wiekszych grupach i szkolnictwa specjalnego .
